Six properties of acrylic - Acrylic lens processing

2022/12/13

Acrylic acid has the advantages of light weight, cheap price and easy forming. Its forming methods include casting, injection molding, mechanical processing, hot forming, etc. Especially injection molding, can be mass production, simple process, low cost. Therefore, it is widely used in instrument parts, automobile lamps, optical lenses, transparent tubes and so on.

The six properties of acrylic are as follows:

First of all, with water transparency, light transmittance of more than 92%, soft light, clear vision, acrylic dyeing dye has good color effect.

2. Acrylic plate has excellent weather resistance, high surface hardness and luster, good high temperature performance.

3 acrylic plate has good processing performance. It can be thermoformed or it can be mechanically plus X.

Fourth, transparent Yakoli plate transmittance and glass comparable, but only half the density of glass. Also, it's not as fragile as glass, and if broken, it won't form sharp shards like glass.

Fifth, the wear resistance of acrylic plate is close to aluminum material, good stability, and resistance to various chemicals.

6. Acrylic plate has good printability and spraying property. The printing and spraying process of acrylic products can make it achieve the ideal surface decoration effect.

Plexiglass (acrylic) plate types, acrylic plate specifications of a variety of types. Public board: transparent board, dyeing transparent board, milk white board, color board; Special plate includes: bathroom board, cloud board, mirror board, plywood, hollow plate, impact plate, flame retardant plate, super wear-resistant plate, surface pattern plate, abrasive board, pearlite plate, metal effect plate, etc. Different performance, different colors and visual effects to meet the ever-changing requirements.

Process characteristic

1. Polymethyl methacrylate contains polar side methyl, with obvious hygroscopic property, water absorption rate is generally 0. The drying condition is 8℃(TC-85°C) and the drying time is 4~5h.

2. Polymethyl methacrylate has obvious non-Newtonian flow characteristics in the temperature range of molding process. Melt viscosity decreases with increasing shear rate and is also sensitive to temperature change. Therefore, for the molding process of polymethyl methacrylate, increasing the molding pressure and temperature can significantly reduce the melt viscosity and obtain better fluidity.

Three. The temperature at which polymethyl methacrylate begins to flow is about 160 degrees Celsius, and the temperature at which polymethyl methacrylate begins to decompose is higher than 270 degrees Celsius. The processing temperature range is wide.

4. Polymethyl methacrylate melt viscosity is high, cooling speed is fast, easy to produce internal stress, the molding need to strictly control the process conditions, after forming the product needs to be processed.

5. Polymethyl methacrylate is a kind of amorphous polymer, its shrinkage rate and change range is small, generally within the range of 0. 05-08, is conducive to improving the dimensional accuracy of plastic parts.

6. Polymethyl methacrylate has excellent machinability, and its profiles can be easily machined into various required sizes.

Processing technology

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) can be produced by casting, injection, extrusion and hot forming processes.

1. Casting and forming

Casting molding is used to form PMMA sheet, bar and other profiles, that is, using bulk polymerization forming profiles. After casting, the product needs post-treatment. The post-treatment conditions are as follows: 2h at 60°C and 2h at 12 °C (TC).

3. Extrusion molding

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) can also be produced by suspension polymerization extrusion PMMA sheet, bar, bar, plate, etc., but the profile prepared by this method, especially the plate, because of the polymer molecular weight is small, good mechanical properties, high production efficiency, especially pipe, etc. The chemical corrosion resistance, heat resistance and solvent resistance of section steel are lower than that of cast section steel. The casting method is used when forming. A shape that is difficult to make. Extrusion can be used single or double stage exhaust extruder, screw length-diameter ratio is generally between 20-25. Table 2 shows the typical extrusion process.

4. Hot forming

Hot forming is the process of making plexiglass sheets or sheets into products of various sizes and shapes. The desired size of blank is cut into the mold frame, heated to soften it, then pressed to bring it close to the mold surface. The shape is the same as the shape, and the product is finished by cooling and trimming the edges. A punch with a shaped surface is pressurized by either vacuum drawing or direct pressure. Refer to the temperature range suggested in Table 3 for thermoforming temperature. In the use of rapid vacuum low draft forming products, the temperature should be used near the lower limit, complex shape deep draft products should be used near the upper limit, usually normal temperature.

Acrylic characteristics

1. Hardness:

Hardness is one of the important parameters to reflect the production process and technology of acrylic sheet, and is an important part of quality control. Acrylic lamp shade can better reflect the purity of raw material PMMA, weatherability and high temperature resistance of the plate. Hardness directly affects whether the plate will shrink and bend, and whether the surface will crack. Hardness is one of the indexes to measure the quality and hardness of acrylic sheet. The average hardness of Dallow's is about 89 degrees.

2. Thickness tolerance:

The control of plate thickness tolerance is an important embodiment of quality management and production technology. Acrylic acid production has international standards

3. Transparency/whiteness:

Strict selection of raw materials, advanced formula tracking, modern production technology, ensure the excellent transparency and whiteness of the plate. The flame polish is bright and transparent.
